Yan Xia
Professor Department of Chemistry Stanford University Office: Stauffer II 205 Phone: 650-723-9059 Email: yanx AT stanford.edu Yan grew up in the older part of Beijing (which was very different from the bustling city now) and received his undergraduate degree from Peking University ('02) and MSc from McMaster University ('05). He obtained his PhD in 2010 from Caltech, where he worked on cyclic and non-cyclic polymers under the tutelage of Professors Grubbs and Kornfield. Following his PhD, he worked at Dow Chemical as a senior chemist and then at MIT as a postdoc. He joined the chemistry faculty at Stanford in the summer of 2013 and was tenured in 2020 despite all the chaos that year. His research interest lies in polymer chemistry and organic/soft materials, tackling challenges with molecular designs and interdisciplinary approaches. He is a recipient of Terman Fellowship, Army Research Office Young Investigator Award, 3M Non-Tenured Faculty Award, NSF CAREER Award, Cottrell Scholar Award, Sloan Research Fellowship, Tosoh Award for Excellence in Polymer Science. |
